There’s an undeniable comfort in coming home—especially when home feels like a soft embrace, bathed in natural light and layered in subtle textures. Designed by Studionine, this 1,800 sq. ft. Ahmedabad residence is a quiet sanctuary for a multigenerational family, thoughtfully crafted to balance openness with privacy and tactility with visual lightness.

Perched in a premium neighbourhood, overlooking a lush garden, the home seeks quiet luxury. What was once a four-bedroom apartment has been reimagined into a spacious three-bedroom retreat, where every material tells a story of warmth and refinement.

With the family’s business rooted in textured paints, the home naturally became a living showcase of their craft. The walls, washed in lime-based textures, lend a soft, muted charm, allowing sunlight to dance across their surface throughout the day. A newly created skylight in the living area enhances this play of light, infusing the space with an ethereal glow.

Anchored in an neutral beige colour palette, the interiors exude tranquillity while embracing warm wood tones for depth and warmth. From sandblasted stone in the bedrooms to the brushed brass accents, every surface is chosen to feel organic, lived-in, and effortlessly elegant.

Reimagining Spaces for Togetherness

The transformation of the floor plan was driven by a desire for openness. Stepping into the entrance foyer, one is greeted by a skylight, illuminating the primary living area, and the open common areas beyond.

The living area is a warm haven bathed in textured off white. Featuring striped upholstery, exposed brick, and a black-and-white palette punctuated by warm wooden accents and lush greenery. The fine lines on the sofa complement the linearity of the ceiling. Detailed accents like the arched coffee table and rounded edges bring a sense of flow to the space.

The living and dining areas flow seamlessly, divided only by a sleek fluted-glass partition—a delicate architectural gesture that maintains connectivity while defining spaces. Here, a cozy coffee nook becomes a pause, to sit and enjoy the view outside, while being seamlessly connected with the on goings of life within.

To suit the family’s lifestyle, the triad of the open-plan kitchen, dining area and pooja corner were kept visually and spatially adjacent. These accessible common areas, bathed in ample natural light, ensure a lightness and transparency — a delightful contrast from the more inward, textural private bedroom spaces.

A former bedroom was converted into a media lounge, creating a second living space for the family to gather. The entrance to this space is concealed within the textured veneer panelling, adjacent to the coffee nook. This intimate zone, enclosed in glass and brushed brass finish framing, allows light to filter through while blackout curtains provide privacy when needed. A sage green sofa adds a touch of quiet vibrancy to the room’s neutral canvas.

Bedrooms as Private Sanctuaries

Each bedroom is an exercise in restraint—layered in tone-on-tone textures that exude calm.

The master bedroom, wrapped in soft pink hues, features a bed back in checkered fabric framed by a subtle border, paired with a wardrobe finished in PU laminate. Showcasing the best quality materials, juxtaposed against textured surfaces, the veneer panelling and smoke-grey linen-finish stone on the bed back creates a visually stunning composition.

The son’s bedroom takes on a greige palette, with a bed back in textured PU paint, harmonized with sandblasted Dhangadhra stone in a river-washed finish. SPC wooden flooring adds a grounding warmth, reinforcing the home’s connection to nature. This room is a depiction of  tonal harmony—earthy hues, geometric artwork, and layered textiles creating a cocooning atmosphere.

The guest bedroom introduces a touch of softness with a Maroon headboard, vertical textured panels, and a bespoke study nook—balancing functionality with serenity. This bedroom leans into modern luxury with fluted panel walls, blush and beige linens, and contemporary decor elements.

A Dialogue Between Old and New

In a home where every element is carefully curated, nothing feels excessive. Exposed brick textures and existing wooden rafters were restored and extended into the passage, lending continuity to the old and new, while also adding a grounded character to the interiors.

This Ahmedabad home is not just a reflection of refined aesthetics but a study in the art of subtlety—where textures tell a quiet story, and light plays the protagonist. In its reimagined form, it stands as an ode to timeless elegance, and the feeling of home remains, above all, deeply personal.
