Moving from a “treatment” to a “wellness” approach, Corgan's design incorporates several public, community-driven amenities including education and conference spaces designed for meetings and events, landscaped walking paths, a community garden and outdoor recreation spaces, as well as a destination dining experience. To support future growth, the design team carefully considered the size of current operational models to plan for an effective, simplified expansion.
To give the best patient care, the hospital wanted to provide a healthy workspace for their staff. It was important to incorporate an easily accessible resting space for nursing staff. To address this need, private acoustically-sensitive rooms were planned to allow staff members to take a moment off within the nursing station zone.
