A hospital must materialise the capacity of a system of great social importance and technical efficiency, while at the same time showing a friendly face to the user and the city. With this proposal, we seek to achieve this great efficiency through a project of great architectural and environmental value. This project, carried out by the teams Ramón Esteve Estudio and Sulkin Marchissio Arquitectos, involves the extension and refurbishment of the General Hospital of Viladecans, in Barcelona. This woodland retreat sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Kent countryside. Approached via a sweeping drive, the building gradually reveals itself within the landscape. Inside, the house uses a simple palette of natural timber, stone, plaster and glass, the tines of the oak contributing to the feeling of warmth throughout. This interior is designed based on a gallery concept, giving the spaces a minimalist yet refined character. In the main areas – the hallway, kitchen, and living room – light grey tones dominate, subtly paired with various wall and floor textures. Taller Héctor Barroso designs orthogonal collection of homes on forested site in Mexico

El estudio de Ciudad de México Taller Héctor Barroso ha finalizado un conjunto de cuatro casas en la exuberante localidad de Valle de Bravo, en el centro de México. El proyecto, conocido como Los Helechos, tiene una superficie de 1.150 metros cuadrados y está situado en un terreno escarpado, boscoso y repleto de vegetación. Las residencias colindantes están escalonadas en planta y sección en correspondencia con la forma de la parcela triangular y su variada topografía. Matthew Giles Architects have created a striking 4-bedroom home that reflects the homeowners' appreciation for the textures of natural materials, and simple spaces, which act as a canvas for a rich and varied family life.   The home was built in the 1960s and its layout bears the hallmarks of that period – with a garage and guest room occupying the existing ground floor. Located on a historic road lined by old farms the Veldhuis seeks to be a contextually relevant modern home with traditional references.
